RAZOM RELIEF

Razom Relief aims to help local Ukrainian volunteer organizations to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the people affected by the war.

Razom Relief (initially Razom Grants) emerged in March 2022 in response to the humanitarian crisis resulting from russia’s full-scale invasion. The Razom Relief mission is to support local NGOs and volunteer organizations that help civilians and strengthen Ukrainian civil society.

In 2022, Razom provided grants in the amount of $4.9 million to 123 organizations that delivered humanitarian aid, evacuated people from hot zones, provided medical assistance, and renovated housing.

Razom Relief’s familiarity with Ukrainian NGOs allows us to reach organizations and communities that other donors cannot. We constantly stay in touch with our grantees and other Ukrainian organizations, evaluating their requests, assessing the impact, and finding new ways to help.

Razom Relief team’s initial mandate was to help local Ukrainian volunteer organizations to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the people affected by the war. The main areas of help were delivering food and medicine, evacuating people, and providing shelter.

As the situation in Ukraine develops, our priorities are developing as well. We helped Ukrainians prepare for winter, provided humanitarian aid for territories close to the front lines that are now liberated. We continue working only with trusted organizations that understand the local needs firsthand and have a proven track record of humanitarian service.

Our current projects

Humanitarian assistance and evacuations for people close to the front lines

Constant air raids and shelling of the areas close to the front lines are destroying the housing and all civilian infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, power lines, and communications. The growing devastation of the civilian sector makes people with disabilities and the elderly especially vulnerable. We are working with volunteers in these areas to support evacuation and ensure that people in need get food and medicine on time. Please read below about some of our grantees and their work.

Supporting first responders

Formed a partnership with the Pirogov First Volunteer Mobile Hospital, or PFVMH. Volunteer doctors, physicians, paramedics, and support staff are working in difficult frontline conditions and risking their lives, to provide medical care to the war victims: first in Kyiv and Zhytomyr, and since May in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Additionally, PFVMH has set up its evacuation and stabilization points in Chasiv Yar and Sloviansk. Evacuation carriages also reach the Luhansk region near Lysychansk.

Rehabilitation

The psychological trauma of war has affected everyone. Many people lost their loved ones and went through horrifying experiences under russian occupation. Many are forced to helplessly watch their children struggle with the stress of the war. Death, injury, sexual violence, malnutrition, illness, and disability, along with the uncertainty and inability to return to normal lives, cause tremendous damage to the nervous system. To help people suffering from PTSD, severe anxiety, depression, and other disorders amplified by war, Razom supports projects that provide them with psychological support and psychiatric treatment.
