MathOlymp: 2019 Fundraiser

We are looking for your support to help bring young Ukrainian math geniuses to the 2019 International Mathematical Olympiad taking place in the UK.

Now that we had a few weeks to rest and celebrate the impressive results shown by the Ukrainian team at the 2018 International Math Olympiad (IMO) in Romania, we’re excited to start making preparations to support Ukrainian mathletes in participating in and attending the 2019 competition! The destination – Bath, UK.
Thanks to the hard work of volunteers in Ukraine over the past years, many mathematical tournaments and olympiads are held for high school students.
Ukrainian government finances all official mathematical competitions. Specifically, government financing includes organization of district, regional and national olympiads, the selection to represent Ukraine in the IMO, and participation of national team in the IMO. In 2016 about $13K was funded by the government for participation of 6 team members and a team captain in the IMO.
The government’s funding covers the bare minimum, and that’s where we come in. We, volunteers, hold yearly rounds of fundraising by seeking support of individual donors and companies. These raised funds cover additional needs for organization of competitions, olympiads, training camps.
In 2018 we start this process again, and we offer you to chime in and donate to support young smart Ukrainians! Your support is essential in making sure young talented kids, whose families struggle to pay full cost of meal, travel, and participation in mathematical olympiads and training camps, can partake in the competitions.
This year we plan to raise funds for the following events in 2019:

  • Romanian Masters of Mathematics –
Participation and travel fees for observers (to be announced)
  • 60th International Mathematical Olympiad –
Participation and travel fees for observers (to be announced)

Our goal is to raise $20,000 in 2018 to support preparation and participation of young and bright Ukrainian students in International Mathematical Olympiad. You can help us reach this goal by donating to the project below. Join us to send the best-prepared team possible to bring home the gold from IMO 2019 in Bath, UK.
