UKRAINIAN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY x RAZOM

The Ukrainian Leadership Academy (ULA) is influencing high-potential youth from all over Ukraine through a 10-month development program, for youth ages 16-20, based in six locations throughout Ukraine. At its current rate, ULA has over 400 alumni who completed the leadership program, with an additional 240 who will graduate in June. Ukraine is experiencing great changes, ULA is equipping the future leaders of the country with necessary tools to continue its positive development.

Razom and ULA have teamed up with the mission to develop young Ukrainian leaders globally. Razom is helping the Academy spread awareness about its programs, recruit students, teachers, and mentors, and raise funds to support ULA’s volunteering projects that make an impact across a number of communities in Ukraine.

ULA is a program of personal and social development, main element of which is the 10-month formational course for secondary school graduates. It combines elements of physical, emotional and intellectual development based on values. The Academy’s Mission is to influence the underlying social processes in Ukrainian society by forming a generation of young people who take responsibility for our nation and have the necessary skills for this. The Academy was established in 2015 with the support of the investment fund Western NIS Enterprise Fund who has been an integral part in the expansion of ULA branches.

Students are chosen from every region of Ukraine, including Crimea and temporarily occupied territories. The ULA branches are currently located in Kyiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Chernivtsi. Students live and study in ULA campuses for 10 months, 6 days a week, from morning till evening. Each week has a mix of lectures, volunteering, sports, projects, and “Impact Days” where on each campus students and staff hold programs and activities for the local community.

The 2018-2019 educational year, marks the first year to include Ukrainians from diaspora. Currently there are three Canadians residing in Lviv, Kyiv, and Kharkiv, learning and growing alongside their Ukrainian counterparts. Currently, the goal is to also include youth of Ukrainian heritage from around the world to the program.
