Today is #ChildrensDay in Ukraine. This normally joyous celebration of childhood is marred, for the second year in a row, by the tragic toll of Russia’s war in Ukraine, which has claimed the lives of hundreds of children & displaced millions. Here are some statistics on the impact:

-Military actions have killed 502 children & wounded 986.
-The Russian invasion has caused the displacement of 4.3 million Ukrainian children – more than half of the country’s estimated child population.

One of Russia’s worst war crimes is the forced deportation of Ukrainian children. Ukraine has identified 19,400+ such cases.

An April Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe resolution said the "systemic" deportations are aimed at “annihilating every link to and feature of [the children’s] Ukrainian identity." Russia forcibly re-educates and russifies deported Ukrainian children. A Yale School of Public Health Humanitarian Research Lab report from February 2023 identified 43 facilities in Russia involved in the re-education of children, which is the tip of the iceberg according to the researchers.

No child in Ukraine has been able to escape trauma caused by the war. We’re helping by with projects that do things like provide psychological support for children through Razom With You, and supporting children of Ukrainian military families through Razom Toy Drive. Donate & support our work providing safety, comfort, and joy to the children of Ukraine.

Another way you can help is by asking Congress to support H Res 149 & S Res 158, resolutions demanding justice for Ukrainian children. Russia’s genocidal actions cannot go unpunished.
